I study subjective human experience. I do qualitative research in which my humanity is the instrument of inquiry. I think about modes of research that embrace the humanity of experience.
My research work is in the field of commerce, an arena which often pretends to objectivity and aspires to automation, yet remains thoroughly human. I’m exploring the opportunities that arise from that tension.

The Shameful Last Citadel Of Our Humanity
One of the flaws of emotion-detecting software run on AI platforms is that it's constructed around the assumption that emotion is a definable thing that exists as a simple, identifiable condition. Emotion as we live it, in contrast, is often unclear, expressed in questions as much as statements.

Keep Emotion Out Of The Blender
Being grounded is about forming a personal connection, in a context that's individually authentic. Trying to be grounded in a way that other people are grounded would completely miss the point.
